The Victorians were a fan of dado panels but their popularity waned in the years that followed. Today dado panels are back in fashion but unfortunately most homes have the original dado panels which would have been modernised and the authentic panels lost. So whether you’re breathing life back into a period property or just adding a great feature to a more modern home, you can now recreate the period look of dado panels thanks to the Anaglypta dado panel range.
Unlike the elaborately carved wood of original dado panels, Anaglypta’s version comes in the form of dado panel wallpaper which is much easier to apply and more affordable too. Don’t just take our word for it, check out these four simple steps to dado panel application:
Step 1:
Use a tape measure to measure up from the skirting board up to where you want your dado rail to be and draw a line. Do the same at the other end of the wall, then using a piece of string, and a person to help you, hold the string at both the marks you’ve made and draw a line. This is where the dado rail will go which will complement your dado panel wallpaper.
Step 2:
If you are installing a new dado rail, it is much easier to apply the dado panels first and the dado rail later. Draw a horizontal line from the dado mark across the wall. This will be where you hang your first piece of dado panel wallpaper.
Step 3:
Cut the dado wallpaper to the correct length of your first drop, leaving a little extra to be cut off cleanly later for the perfect fit. Next paste the dado wallpaper or the wall accordingly and line the wallpaper panel up with the horizontal line on the wall. Hang it carefully ensuring you remove any air bubbles in the process with a wallpaper brush.
Step 4:
Next match the next section of wallpaper and cut it to the desired length, again leaving enough for a clean cut once applied. Apply the paste and line up the next drop just touching the previous one to ensure a clean, professional finish. Keep applying new drops until your wall is complete.
With Anaglypta Dado Panel wallpaper, it really is that simple to add a period touch and great sense of character to any home.
