We are often asked by customers what they need to put on top of Wallrock Thermal liner to get the kind of finish they’re after. So lets take a look at the options available. 1. Paint The smooth outer facing side of Wallrock Thermal Liner is designed to be painted. All you need to do is leave 24 hours after applying the thermal lining to the wall to allow paste to dry. After painting it might be necessary to apply a little filler to the joints of the lining, but don’t apply filler to the unpainted surface of the lining paper because when you come to sand it down it could damage the thermal liner. 2. Other Wallrock Products Because Wallrock Thermal liner is just 3.2mm thick (the slightly thicker KV600 is 4mm thick) then you might get slight differences between each drop if your wall is not totally flat. The differences will probably be small but to many people any discrepancy is not acceptable. To make sure you get a completely flat surface if your wall has imperfections in it, try overlaying it with another dedicated lining paper (i.e. one that doesn’t serve another purpose such as thermal insulation) such as Wallrock Fibreliner, Wallrock Premium, Fibreliner Plus, or a wallpaper from the Wallrock Trend or Texture ranges. 3. Paste Standard wallpapers are often woven, so they expand when wetted with paste, and shrink back when drying. When they’re applied directly to thermal liner, they may lift the edges of it they dry as the thermal liner will resist shrinking with the wallpaper. To prevent this it’s best to apply wallrock Fibreliner paste to stabilize the surface of the thermal liner before applying standard wallpaper. Doing this will also protect the surface of the Thermal Liner from getting damaged in the future if you remove the wallpaper. Finally, we recommend that you do not use vinyl wallpaper on top of Thermal Liner as it will reduce the breathability of it, which may impair it’s functioning.
