When it comes to redecorating your home this season, forget plain painted walls and instead join the patterned wall revolution. This season interior design magazines are featuring bold designs that will not only add colour to your home but great pops of pattern too. We’ve taken three unique looks and explained how to achieve them using designer paint which is available from paint suppliers such as us at Go Wallpaper UK.
Designer Paint for the Living Room
The living room is one room in the house which you spend hours relaxing and entertaining in. This is also the room that you can be the most creative in when it comes to adding colour and pattern. The key look this season is for chevron designs. There is a very simple way of adding this look to your living room without creating that dizzying look that an all-over chevron pattern might create. Simply use a suitable paint primer to seal your walls and when dry, paint your base colour. White or a soft off-white works best for this as it will contrast well with other colours. Next add some dado panels to your wall – these will help frame the chevron design once painted. Next mask off the chevrons and choose a bright shade of paint. The perfect colours for the coming spring/summer are mustard yellow or aquamarine. Paint inside the masked off areas and once dry, peel the masking tape off. This should leave beautiful chevron panels on your wall. Complete the look with contrasting chevron cushions for a great sense of style.

Designer Paint for the Kitchen
The kitchen is another area of the home that lends itself well to colour. However, typically kitchens are small so plain colour throughout can actually make them look smaller. The perfect way to make a kitchen look bigger and brighter is to add stripes to the wall. Horizontal stripes work based in either white or off-white and a darker colour with warm undertones. To get this look, prime the walls and then apply your white colour to all the walls. Next mask off deep horizontal lines with masking tape. Now take your dark, warm tone and alternate the stripes. Once dry, remove the masking tape and you’ll have a great, fresh look.

Designer Paint for the Bathroom
The bathroom is often an overlooked area of the home when it comes to colour and it’s actually one of the best rooms to get creative in. With fewer home furnishings than other rooms, the bathroom can be easier to draw a bold look together in. One of the emerging trends in bathroom designs is to add a feature paint wall and this season it’s all about patriotism with the Union Jack making a big come back. A full union jack wall can look overpowering in large rooms like the dining room or living room, so when added to a bathroom, it can create a fun look. Creating your Union Jack does require some patience as you have to wait for layers of paint to dry before moving on but it’s definitely worth putting in the time. To create your Union Jack wall, prime the walls with an anti-mould sealant and then paint off-white. Next use masking tape to mark out the flag design. Using the red first, carefully paint all the red parts of the flag. Once dry, move onto the blue parts. Finally peel off the masking tape and touch up any imperfections with a small brush if required. Team with navy or red towels to complete the look.
