Thirdly, paintable wallpaper allows you to customise the look to suit your taste. White paintable wallpaper is becoming very popular, so we thought we’re share our top tips for painting the wallpaper, whether it’s for the first time or a subsequent time. Top Tip 1 – Choose your Paintable Wallpaper If you are applying the wallpaper, choose a good quality white paintable wallpaper for best results. We recommend the Analgypta Wallpaper range or Wallrock Trend Wallpaper collection. Both of these brands have a long history of textured wallpaper manufacture as well as a great choice of designs. Top Tip 2 – Select Your Paint Carefully When it comes to choosing the paint you want to use to paint the white paintable textured wallpaper, you need to select the colour and the finish you want. We recommend choosing a hard wearing paint that will stand the test of time. You can opt for a matt finish or gloss finish depending on your preference. Remember that a gloss finish is easier to maintain in terms of cleaning. However, it offers a bolder look, something you may or may not be looking for. Little Greene offers an extensive range of paints in neutral tones to pastel shades and more vibrant hues – check out their range here. Top Tip 3 – Even Application Most colours will go beautifully over white paintable wallpaper and depending on the strength of the pigment, you may need to paint multiple coats for coverage. To begin with, gently paint the entire surface of the wallpaper to ensure an even application. Don’t overload your brush or roller and this will reduce drip marks from occurring. You want to ensure the textured finish and pattern is not lost once painted. After the first coat has dried, reassess the wallpaper – paint any unpainted areas that may have been missed on the first application. Once dry, go to the second application if required. Top Tip 4 – Maintain your Walls Over time, your finished look might deteriorate by fading, getting marked or scuffed. Ensure you regularly reassess the finish of your paintable wallpaper. Gently wash the walls if suitable to remove marks and touch up any damaged surfaces with a new coat of paint.
